BUS HOODOO ENDS
![]()
24th November 2007 goes down in HDB history as the day the bus hoodooo ended with a trip "doon the road" for a top of the table clash with leaders Hamilton Accies.
Despite many great days out on Jabba organised tour days, the HDB's were beginning to fear the hoodoo would never be overcome with draws being as good as it gets on bus days. The day started early with a 9 A.M.kick off from Sneck due to attendance at the DSA organised doo and karaoke in the Ambassador (never get used to calling it the Centenary) Arnie was ensconnsed up the rear lubricating his vocal chords in preperation for the impending x factor auditions, with Addo being our pilot for the day.John H looked a tad worse for wear from the previous evening's doo,but assured us he'd be fine when he'd had a pint.
An uneventful journey saw us arrive ahead of schedule in Dundee as the feared hold ups at Ballinluig roadworks failed to materialse, and so the HDB's arrived at the doo before the heating was switched on!! A swift visit to the bar saw us begin to thaw out and get the pre match warm up under way.
Compere for the day Bobby Brady got things under way and advised us we'd have to mind the langauge due to kids being present, and even invented some wee rhyming games for them to take part in,a nice touch to include the youngsters!
On to the karaoke and Arnie was first up,a superb rendition of Delilah (Tom Jones, not the Plain White Tee's) saw the HDB's expectations of a winning entry soar, surely no one could match that qaulity of singing and as competitors came and went, we were confident it was only a matter of time before Arnie was crowned winner

As the karaoke drew to a close and the judges announce the "winners" suspicions of broon envelopes being involved were getting mentioned as Arnie didnae get a place in the tap 3,a travisty if ever their was one !!!
Following the Karaoke a comedian was on, then it was the turn of Cahirman to present our wee gift to Derek Steel in recognition of his magnificant achievment climbing Kilimanjaro.Derek was taken totally by surprise and was gobsmacked at his inclusion thinking Mark was awa up to do a bit of Karaoke.

Due to the comic being too subtle with his jokes for the youngster's,they decided a game of pool elsewhere would be preferable so unfortunatly i missed the rest of the humour but am assured it was as good as the first part.
Onwards to Dens and anticipation was growing,3 points would put us in touching distance of the Accies, and after the dissapointment of the Clyde result meant we really needed to win this one.
A
new perspective of Dens for me, never having sat in the Coxy before, usually
choosing the Derry sorry, south enclosure,as my preferred vantage point,I
was pleased to find the view from just above the cross bar behind the goal
gave us a superb angle to watch Scotty's delightful opener which sent the
home end ecstatic, but we needed another surely, as Accies wouldn't lie down
easily. Some shocking refereeing and linesmaning got the Coxy faithful affy
wound up, but great defending sees us last the full 90 without conceding and
Accies recieving several yellow cards as frustration sets in(Theres a great
match report on the message board)
With blood pressure starting to lower as we head back to the bus,the hoodoo having been finally put to bed and Accies now firmly in our sites we head out of Dundee with renewed optimism, can we do it? Well it seems to be down to a 2 horse race with less than half the season done,I'd have settled for that at the start......
WHEN'S THE NEXT BUS???
C'MON THE DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
