BOAB COMES OF AGE

 

Having had a few significant older birthdays recently,It was great to see one of our younger members reach a major milestone with Boab Kerr reaching legal drinking status. Despite dad Marks best efforts shaving aff Boab's tache and sidie's in an effort to get another years junior membership fee,nothing gets by Derek,and so it was we met up at Rollerbowl for another gathering and a wee surpise for Boab,

A good turnout saw 22 HDB's ,spouses and bairns take up the ten pin challenge,with teams split into Young anes,Wifies and a mixed bag of abilites in the guy's teams.

After 3 hard fought games all that was left was to fix workout the total scoring and after Garry's well thought out handicapping system it was decided the bairns got it by 1 pin.

Having expended more energy than usual for a Sunday afternoon,everyone eagerly retired to the bar area for refreshments and a couple of presentations,First up was the certificate to the HDB's for contributions to the "Ure Dundee" fundraising campaign,it was decided by the executive that a worthy gaurdian of this keepsake should be El Pres, John Hubband,seen here with Garry and the coveted certificate.There was another certificate for Arnie,in recognition of his personnal efforts and contribution to the campaign,unfortunatley he was unable to attend due to injury ,but well done Arnie.....Respect, big ane!!

Next up was "young" Boab,and his 18th birthday pressie,he tried affy hard to look impressed wi the DFC pint pot presented to him,but after letting him sweat just a wee while,Jabba brought out the "tap" that near brought a tear to Boab's eye.Scotty Robertson had kindly organised to get the top signed by all the current team,despite giving the shirt of his back(literally) to young Billy of the HDB's the previous week in Dingwall!! (Cheers Scott and Diane and Alan :-) )

So with the sporting activities and presentations over , it was off to the regular eating haunt of the HDB's at the Cinnamon where an "eat as much as ya want "buffet awaited the hungry hordes.Great food ,great Craic and another milestone for one of our members....Wha's next?
